Year 5 one year 11+ REMOTE LEARNING

Overview

When children start our Year 5 One Year Course in September, they have one year of preparation time before they take their 11+ exams. During this period, our Year 5 pupils grow in their knowledge of subjects and develop the skill sets they require to pass the 11+. They will also develop the literacy and numeracy skills required for secondary school education.

Our 11+ courses prepare children in English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. Parents can choose either the classroom-based or the remote learning delivery method for complete flexibility, meaning it does not matter where you live in the UK.

Pupils attend weekly sessions for 2 hours and 30 minutes, with up to one hour of homework per night. Each group is taught by a UK-qualified, experienced teacher, and a team of supervisors and classroom assistants provide one-to-one support.

Parents are invited to attend the last 15 to 30 minutes of each session to observe and receive homework information. If a parent is unable to attend, all necessary information will be available on our Parent Portal, which serves as a central hub for both parents and pupils.

A weekly two hours 30 minutes Zoom teaching session delivered by the class teacher with the support of up to two supervisors & eight classroom assistants at the designated lesson time
All materials sent out on a monthly basis by post (UK addresses only) in advance of lessons
All assessments, mock examinations and information talks to parents will be delivered remotely
One to one support
A parents' presentation video on the 11+ and school entry requirements, during the summer term
Monitoring, pupil progress reports and feedback
For additional support we also provide you with access to every video recording of each weekly lesson, for the duration of the course (these are pre-recorded & professionally filmed with no pupils present)
Although this course is fully remote, if parents would like their child to experience a mock exam under 'normal' exam room conditions, AE Tuition offers additional mock exams in person at the tuition centres during the summer break. These are offered to all Year 5 pupils (classroom-based courses or remote-learning courses), for a fee
