Overview

This course aims to take your child to a very high level of performance and to achieve Scholarships in the Independent schools’ sector if possible and is taught by our most experienced subject specialists. This course also prepares children for the following examinations:

i) Independent school 11+ examinations  – These are mainly sat in January 2025. These examinations involve English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning and the course fully covers these requirements. It also covers general knowledge and interview technique. Children that do very well in these examinations may be offered scholarships by these schools

ii) Independent school 13+ Common Entrance Examinations – These are sat in January 2025. Candidates for this examination follow the same English course with some material enhancements. Extra 13+ books are supplied in comprehension and will be reviewed during lessons and in five extra help individual sessions, at no extra cost. The maths is taught separately from the main classes in 10 two-hour individual tuition sessions.  These will take place at the same time as the main lessons on the schedule but will be arranged at the tuition centre reception desk. The children follow 13+ curriculum that includes ISEB and other high-quality materials. There will be a separate maths mock examination for these children

iii) Second Round 11+ Grammar school Examinations – This is useful preparation for English and Maths examinations sat in October-December

iv) Key Stage 2 SATs tests – This course is excellent preparation in English & maths for children aiming to ‘Exceed National Standard’

v) Late Entry exams (12+/13+) – These are administered centrally by the LEA & require maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-verbal Reasoning. 15 additional individual sessions are provided to cover the VR and NVR elements.  A separate, additional cost schedule will be provided for this (£220).  Some Bucks grammars administer their own examinations and this course also prepares children for these tests although there may be some additional elements such as science and a modern foreign language test, which AE Tuition do not prepare children for.
