This course is intended for children who have not completely mastered the basic elements of mathematics required for 11+ success.
It focuses on the relationship between number, decimals, fractions, percentages and ratios.
This is essential learning for the CEM 11+ examinations in Berkshire and for GL Assessment style 11+ Maths tests in Buckinghamshire.
There will be a multiple-choice mock examination and follow-up session on the last day of the Essential Maths course. A personalised progress report will also be provided.
The course covers all the essential elements for Verbal Ability and Non-verbal Reasoning required by CEM in the Berkshire 11+ examinations, and Verbal Reasoning and Non-verbal reasoning required by GL Assessment in the Buckinghamshire 11+ examinations and other grammar examinations.
This course is recommended for children who are not fully competent in Verbal Activity and Non-verbal Reasoning.
The following areas will be covered:
Verbal Ability comprises: comprehension, cloze, synonyms, antonyms and homonyms and syntax for CEM 11+ tests.
Verbal Reasoning comprises: basic logical/processing techniques and additional work on the English components of GL Assessment style verbal reasoning tests that also have relevance to CEM 11+ tests.
This will cover all the techniques required by GL Assessment and CEM style non-verbal tests. 3D rotation is specifically required by CEM and this will be covered in detail.
There will be a multiple choice mock examination and follow-up session on the last day of the Verbal Activity and Non-verbal Reasoning course. A personalised progress report will also be provided.
This is an advanced course and should be considered if children are facing a specific English examination in the 11+. It can also be a useful means of boosting a child’s English skills to a much higher level and making a pass score more likely in the CEM tests and GL Assessment tests. If your child is sitting for a first division grammar school, this is excellent additional learning that can further enhance their performance.

The mock examination will include a multiple-choice test, a written creative writing test and a follow-up session on the last day of the course. A personalised progress report will also be provided.
This is a challenging course and should be considered if children are facing a specific mathematics examination in the 11+. It can also be a useful means of improving a child’s mathematics skills so they can perform above the level of the required tests. It should be considered if your child is sitting for a first division grammar school. It is also useful in boosting performance in both CEM and GL Assessment style 11+ examinations.
